8 Channel DI Unit 

Introduction

This is a mains powered 8 Channel Direct Injection unit in a 1U case designed for use on stage and in the recording studio; it accepts inputs from line level/-10dBV sources, keyboards, synthesiser modules, guitars and loudspeaker outputs. The fully floating electronically balanced line level outputs are entirely compatible with the performance requirements of the best of today's digital recording technology. 

  • Each of the 8 channels has:
  • Unbalanced input and link output on standard (A gauge) ¼" jack
  • Switchable for guitar, line or loudspeaker input
  • Line level electronically balanced output on 3 pin XLR with earth lift
  • Transformer balanced microphone level output option available
  • 20dB gain via potentiometer giving maximum output level of >+23dBm into 10k; with the High Performance option the maximum output level is >+26dBm into 600W

Housing features:

  • 1U rack mount case with jacks on the front, and XLRs, earth lift switches and fused IEC inlet on rear panel
  • Separate Mains/Chassis and Signal earth connections
  • IEC mains inlet with built-in fuse: optional voltage selector suitable for 240V/220V and 110V

  • All audio connectors high quality (Neutrik); long term reliability
  • Inputs DC coupled; improved bass response
  • Each channel screened and decoupled; maximum channel isolation
  • All ICs soldered directly to PCB; low noise and long term reliability
  • All resistors 1% metal film, potentiometers cermet; low noise and long term stability
  • Toroidal transformer; minimal hum fields
  • Very smooth dual rail power supply giving ± 17VDC for variations in supply of up to ± 30% for nominal 230VAC input; it is rated at more than twice the required current to ensure cool running and long life
  • All units are soak tested into maximum load
  • Specifications: (20Hz to 20kHz) THD (0dB in/out) <.003%, S/N >118dB (For demanding applications we can offer versions of these boards with THD+N performance an order of magnitude better than the standard boards, and with power rail option up to ±24V and full drive capability into 600R (THD+N <.0005% @ 1kHz, noise 10nV/Hz½, slew rate 25V/uS))
