The Never Ending Plug-In!
pluggo 3.1 is
an extraordinary collection of more than one hundred audio plug-ins that work
with Mac OS sequencers and audio applications that support Audio Units,
Steinberg's VST plug-in format, and Digidesign's RTAS plug-in format.
There has never been anything close to the selection of plug-ins assembled in pluggo, and with the arrival of pluggo 3.1, the the gap has gotten even wider. With its range of sound design possibilities, pluggo 3.1 is more than just a few effects-it's a real-time interactive audio processing, modulation, and synthesis environment that works right inside your favourite audio application. Effects categories include delays, filters, pitch effects, distortion, granulation, spectral effects, modulators, multi-channel effects, synthesizers, audio routing, reverb and dynamics, and visual display. It's easy to see why pluggo has been winning rave reviews from critics and users since its release.
Cycling '74 started developing pluggo with a breathtakingly simple yet radical concept: lots of interesting plug-ins for a modest price. They wanted people who would never consider paying hundreds of dollars for a single plug-in to find the pluggo deal impossible to resist. Since Max/MSP allows you to make so much cool audio stuff so quickly, C74 could prototype an effect in minutes and then ask, "Would we pay a quid or two for this?" The result is that ideas that would been rejected by other plug-in developers have become the stars of the parade. Raindrops? Sine Bank? Phone Filter? Then there's the stuff that is simply unlike anything you've ever plugged in, like Spectral Filter, Feedback Network, Granular-to-Go, and Noyzckippr.
pluggo includes MIDI support when used with VST, Audio Units, MAS, and RTAS host applications. pluggo plug-ins can send and receive MIDI information, and Max/MSP developers can now develop their own MIDI processor plug-ins and virtual MIDI instruments. Also, pluggo 3 includes nineteen new Essential Instruments for your pleasure, as well as M2M, a plug-in that converts MIDI information into modulation data to change the parameters of other plug-ins.
pluggo 3 includes support for host synchronization for Audio Units and VST host applications. pluggo plug-ins support beat-synchronized parameter changes, sample-accurate tempo sync for a plug-in's modulating LFOs, and tempo-relative settings for plug-in parameters such as delay time. Refer to the table below that shows which features are supported on various Mac OS X host applications. pluggo OS X Host Feature Comparison Chart
pluggo isn't be limited to the warehouse full of plug-ins we're supplying today. If you want to tweak your own plug-ins, you might want to consider Max/MSP, which includes everything you need to develop your own plug-ins. And the new Pluggo Run-time System allows you to give your own plug-ins to everyone, regardless of whether they own pluggo or not.
If you're going to have all of these plug-ins around, you need a way to deal with them. So we created Plug-in Manager, an easy-to-use application that lets you keeps track of your your plug-ins just as you do for system extensions and control panels with the Mac Extensions Manager.
Plug-in Manager is included free with pluggo, and while it was originally intended for use only with audio plug-ins, you can use it for any application that gets its plug-ins from a specific folder.
