Gateshead based DACS is very pleased to announce that it won a prestigious Studio Sound Audio Industry Recognition Award at the recent Audio Engineering Society trade fair in Amsterdam.

The MicAmp, its two channel ultra low noise discrete component based microphone amplifier was nominated and subsequently voted for by a readers poll of audio professionals in the trade publication Studio Sound. They concurred that the warmth and depth of detail it produced made it one of the finest microphone pre-amplifiers in the world. At low levels the clarity is particularly exceptional, comparable to the best valve circuits but without the unwanted noise generation. It is this remarkable feature that led the manufacturers to write the ‘noise’ specification as "negligible".

It is not surprising that the MicAmp was nominated for such a prestigious award. It has been universally described by owners and field testers alike as the best pre-amp they have used, bar none. Sound on Sound reviewer Hugh Robjohns described it as "Simply stunning".

It is a landmark in the history of a team that has built its reputation on designing and manufacturing high performance custom made audio equipment for musicians and professional studios across the country.

The award has launched the company into the spotlight of a highly competitive Industry. Recipients of awards in other categories included such audio luminaries as Rupert Neve and Dolby Sound Laboratories.
