DACS TO DISTRIBUTE PYRAMID MONITORS
Triple
P Designs consumer systems reference monitors now available in the UK
DACS are pleased to announce that they are now distributing Pyramid
Monitors, made by Triple P Designs in the
Deciding he needed a single consistent reference for how his mixes
would sound outside of the studio, and that his second set of speakers,
Auratones, no longer provided such an accurate portrayal, Paul researched and
listened to many different systems, regularly hearing his music and spots “on
air”. Over two years, trying out
different speakers and enclosures, Paul came up with the Pyramid monitor.
The distinctive acrylic enclosure is similar to the plastic casing
found on most consumer televisions, which resonates quite differently to the
solid wood enclosure of most studio monitors.
The Pyramids also feature an oval speaker, again found in most
commercially available playback systems.
The limited frequency response of 80Hz to 18kHz,
helps the engineer to identify problems in the mid-range, where small speakers
are most efficient and the human voice tends to be centred, as well as
revealing potential problems in the higher range, often masked by lower
frequencies. All these qualities
combined give any engineer preparing audio that may be heard on low fidelity
systems, the opportunity to compensate for potentially large changes which can
occur in the leap between studio monitors and small speakers with limited
bandwidth.
