Cycling ’74 Release Max/MSP and Jitter for OSX

Cycling ’74 have announced the release of Max/MSP and Jitter for Mac OSX.  Max/MSP is the worlds most powerful audio and MIDI programming software, combining the object oriented graphical Max controller environment with the power of MSP audio processing. Users can create their own algorithms using MSP signal objects, from multi channel playback and recording, to granular synthesis and spectral processing. Max/MSP allows anybody to create VST, RTAS and MAS plug-ins, supporting numerous audio formats. With the interactive display, the user ‘wires’ together components with patch cords, allowing almost infinite combinations of objects and algorithms. Max/MSP takes advantage of Mac OSX’s Core Audio and Core MIDI, which makes the use of multiple I/O audio interfaces straightforward and renders OMS and ASIO unnecessary.

Jitter is a video, matrix, and 3D graphical extension package for use with Max/MSP programming environment, providing an unprecedented level of modularity in graphics processing applications. It includes over 120 new objects for describing and manipulating matrix data-any data that can be expressed in rows and columns, such as video and still images, OpenGL-based 3D geometries, text, spreadsheet data, particle systems, voxels, or audio. Jitter is be useful to anyone interested in real-time and interactive video/3D graphics, data visualization, custom video effects creation, video rendering, and numerous classroom applications.
