SERIOUS ABOUT SOUND

DACS is a Genelec Approved Centre. This means we are qualified to advise at every level on the selection and installation of the full range of Genelec loudspeakers. Uniquely, we are the only UK dealer trained by Genelec to calibrate systems, and thus get the best possible performance from any given space. Below is a brief guide the Genelec's range:

Genelec have been designing and manufacturing active monitoring speakers since 1978. Their current product range consists of more than 20 models and covers most imaginable monitoring needs. Genelec has been the industry first to develop many of the key technologies in use today: the Directivity Control Waveguide, the full implementation of the active loudspeaker with built-in power amplifiers and driver protection circuits, the integration of full room response tailoring and many more. A wide range of monitors cover all applications from traditional stereo to modern digital surround sound reproduction and latest digital audio formats. All Genelec monitors, regardless of size, share the same neutral sound characteristics. Since the beginning, they have held the belief that the job of a monitoring speaker is to find the truth of a recording. If the truth is beautiful it will sound beautiful, but if the truth is ugly that will be revealed as well. What ever circumstances, a sound engineer needs to hear the inherent truth of a recording to know how to respond to it. This has been Genelec's guiding design principle for every one of their models from the minuscule 1029A to the massive 1036A.

Genelec Bi-amplified Monitoring Systems:

1029A  2029A  2029B  1030A  1031A  1032A

Genelec Bi-Amplified Monitoring Systems are compact active monitors with performance equal to much larger systems. They contain inbuilt electronic crossovers, overload protection and power amplifiers. They are ideal for near field monitoring, broadcast and TV control rooms, mobile vans, home studios and travelling engineers.

Genelec's unique Directivity Control Waveguide™ (DCW™) technology provides excellent stereo imaging and frequency balance. The versatile room frequency response controls allow excellent room response tailoring. The speakers perform best in vertical orientation.

Everything is built into the speaker enclosure. The only connections required are the mains supply and the line level input signal. This ensures consistent audio quality.

An increasingly popular application of the bi-amplified systems is surround sound reproduction. Building a full fledged surround system with Genelec monitors is extremely simple.

And, Genelec has powerful subwoofers to nicely integrate into the systems. You can build conventional stereo pairs or full surround sound systems with precise, neutral and extremely powerful sound. The compact 7050A subwoofer is intended for use with 1029A, 2029A and 2029B to have an even frequency response down to 38 Hz. The 7060A, 7070A and 7071A are for stereo systems based on 1030A monitors & larger and any sized surround sound systems. The low frequency extends down to 29 Hz or 19 Hz depending on the model.

Genelec Tri-Amplified Monitoring Systems:

S30D  1037B  1037C  1038A  1038AC

Genelec Tri-Amplified Monitoring Systems are compact active monitors with performance equal to much larger systems. The types from small to large are S30D, 1037B, 1037C, 1038A, and the centre channel version 1038AC. They contain active electronic crossovers, overload protection and power amplifiers. The only connections required are the line level input signal and the mains. This eliminates the component tolerances and ensures consistent audio quality.

Genelec's unique Directivity Control Waveguide™ (DCW™) technology provides excellent stereo imaging and frequency balance. The system can be used in vertical and horizontal orientations by rotating the DCW units. The versatile room response controls allow precise repeatable response in the final installation.

Genelec Control Room Main Monitor Systems:

1034B  1034BC  1039A  1035B  1036A

The Genelec Control Room Main Monitor Systems are very powerful studio monitor loudspeakers. They consist of two large speaker enclosures and one or two equipment racks containing active crossovers, power amplifiers and driver protection. The speakers are designed for flush mounting in the control room wall, although they may be used free standing .

Room response adjustments allow perfect match to the acoustic conditions in different control rooms. The frequency response robustness ensured by the unique Directivity Control Waveguide™ (DCW™) Technology provides excellent stereo imaging and frequency balance even in acoustically difficult rooms. The system can be used in vertical and horizontal orientations by rotating the DCW units.

Genelec Subwoofers:

7050A  7060A  7070A  7071A  7073A

Genelec's active subwoofers are powerful low frequency loudspeakers, incorporating all the amplifier and crossover electronics needed to combine them with Genelec active monitors and line-level signal sources. The amplifier unit integrated into the cabinet contains active crossover filters, driver overload protection circuits and a power amplifier.

The new 7060A, 7070A, 7071A and 7073A have built-in bass management unit with six signal input/output channels, LFE input and summed signal output connectors, providing great flexibility and easy connection to both Surround Sound and Stereo systems. The compact 7050A is designed to extend the bass response of 1029A, 2029A and 2029B monitors in Stereo systems.

The new LSE series subwoofers (7050A, 7060A, 7070A and 7071A) feature the Genelec Laminar Spiral Enclosure™ (LSE™) bass reflex cabinet which is made of a sheet metal rolled into a spiral shape and clamped between thick MDF side panels. This new construction technique provides excellent laminar flow characteristics with minimal turbulence noise and enables an optimal packing of a very long reflex tube into a small space.

The new 7073A does not use the LSE™ construction technique as the cabinet is large enough to accommodate a straight vent. However, the turbulence noise generated is just as low as can be found on an LSE™ subwoofer enclosure which guarantees the same high sound quality at an even higher SPL outputs.
