Castlesound Slate Room
"We are really pleased with the room. Douglas did exactly what we wanted; it sounds great, looks great, was done on time and at a price we were happy with. We couldn't really ask for more than that!"

The Slate Room at Castlesound was exactly that - slate lined to produce that really big washy sound that was fashionable around the 80s.
The picture below is pre-treatment.
Freeland Barber wanted to use the room for BBC drama productions and as it was this was impossible. We had a required result and a budget. We managed to achieve what was wanted within budget. The room now sounds very different; smooth and crisp and even.
Castlesound Studios in Edinburgh, Scotland was recently used to record parts of the soundtrack to Disney Pixar’s Brave. The film score for Brave was composed by Patrick Doyle, Doyle used traditional Scottish instruments such as Celtic harps, a solo fiddle and bagpipes to inject some of Scotland’s traditional flavour to the music.
Brave was released in Scotland on June 3rd 2012 and to the rest of the UK on June 13th 2012 after its British premier at the Edinburgh Film Festival. Brave has been met with positive reviews and has been a box office success.
