DACS HeadLine – Guitar Switcher Bundle – PRE-PURCHASE
£1,379.03 Inc. VAT
The DACS HeadLine Guitar Switcher allows selection from 8 amplifiers and 4 loudspeakers. The HeadLine system has a 1U relay switching case that sits next to the amplifiers, and a 1U selector that sits next to the guitarist or engineer; they connect to each other via a network cable. The relay switching makes sure amp loads are maintained and the guitar input is muted during switching. Illuminated switches indicate clearly which are selected. The DACS HeadLine allows for customisation, for example adding a switch section to switch between microphones set on the loudspeakers.
This PRE-PURCHASE offer grants you:

The HeadLine Guitar Switcher was born from Jeff Waters, of Canadian metal band Annihilator, Jeff wanted a way to compare his many boutique guitar amplifiers and cabinets without having to unplug and replug to try each combination. The time taken to change over also made accurate comparisons difficult. Our design for a guitar switcher allowed Jeff to sit in the control room sweet spot and compare in seconds between different amps and cabinets. He achieved in a morning what had in the past taken up to two long days.
The DACS HEADLINE guitar switcher allows selection from 8 amplifiers and 4 loudspeakers. The HEADLINE system has a 1U relay switching case that sits next to the amplifiers, and a 1U selector that sits next to the guitarist or engineer. They connect to each other via a network cable. The relay switching makes sure amp loads are maintained and the guitar input is muted during switching. Illuminated switches indicate clearly which are selected. The DACS HEADLINE allows for customisation, for example adding a switch section to switch between microphones set on the loudspeakers.
HeadLine Relay Switcher Unit
The HEADLINE switcher unit switches all screens/0V lines with the signal lines ensuring total isolation between amplifiers, and total fidelity of transmission. The unselected amplifier outputs are connected to a dummy load to ensure that sensitive valve output stages are not compromised. The unused amplifier inputs short the signal and screen (like a ‘silent switch’ jack) to ensure there is no hum or other pick up on the amplifier. When a new amplifier or loudspeaker is selected, the first step is to disconnect the currently active amplifier input line and short the signal and screen. Around 1 second later the selected amplifier output is routed to the selected loudspeaker, then shortly after that the guitar input to the amplifier is connected. The delay gives the amplifier a chance to settle, and any reverb to dissipate before disconnecting its output. Changing loudspeakers follows the same procedure.
HeadLine Selector Unit
The HEADLINE selector unit has 12 illuminated buttons, 8 red and 4 blue. The red buttons are for selecting guitar amplifiers and the blue for selecting loudspeaker cabinets. Labelling is done by using the magnetic strips and white board pen we supply with the unit. The strips are cut to be aligned with the switches. We have supplied quite a few extra labels and a case so you can keep a collection of labels ready for use.
We have provided for two connection options:
Option 1 – the guitar is plugged into the front of the selector unit. There is a direct link to a jack on the rear of the case which is paralleled to an output for feeding to a tuner. The installer would then run a high-quality guitar cable from the rear of the case to the switcher unit.
Option 2 – the guitar is plugged in to the front of the switcher unit, which will also feed a tuner output on the rear
With each system we also include a 3m guitar cable, with hard gold plated Neutrik jacks to ensure that what goes in has the purest signal path.
We considered carefully what might be required and offer the following options:
A set of heavy-duty shelves dimensioned to house 8 of the largest valve amplifiers around; it includes power distribution and cable management, and a slot for the HEADLINE guitar switcher unit
Full high-quality cable looms designed to allow front and rear connection for the amplifiers, with numbered cables for plugging into the switcher
